No. 10 Verses
Belief
No.10 - Based on the following scriptures, I believe
it is important to speak God's Word often.
It is
in speaking God's Word that faith is developed in our hearts.
Whenever a problem presents itself, your first line of attack should
be to speak God's Word over it using appropriate Bible verses for
that particular situation.
Ex.13:9
- This observance will be for you like a
sign on your hand and a reminder on your forehead that
the law of the LORD is to be on your lips.
For the LORD brought you out of Egypt with his mighty hand.
Deut.
6:7 - Impress them on your
children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk
along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Deut.
30:14 - No, the word is very near
you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.
Ps
1:1-3 - Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the
wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.
2 But his delight
is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and
night. 3 He is
like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in
season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
Josh 1:1-9 -
After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, the LORD said to
Joshua son of Nun, Moses' aide: 2 "Moses my servant is dead. Now
then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River
into the land I am about to give to them-to the Israelites. 3 I will
give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. 4
Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the
great river, the Euphrates - all the Hittite country - to the Great
Sea on the west. 5 No one will be able to stand up against you all
the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I
will never leave you nor forsake you. 6 "Be strong and courageous,
because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to
their forefathers to give them. 7 Be strong and very courageous. Be
careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn
from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful
wherever you go.
8 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate
on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything
written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be
terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with
you wherever you go."
Ps.
119:15 I meditate on your precepts and consider your
ways.
Ps.
119:46 I will speak of your statutes before kings and
will not be put to shame,
Ps.
119:48 I lift up my hands to your commands, which I
love, and I meditate on your decrees.
Ps.
119:97 Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all
day long.
Ps.
119:99 I have more insight than all my teachers, for I
meditate on your statutes.
Ps.
119:148 My eyes stay open through the watches of the
night, that I may meditate on your promises.
Ps.
119:172 May my tongue sing of your word, for all your
commands are righteous.
Prov.
23:15,16 - My son, if your heart is wise, my heart will be glad,
even mine: Yes, my heart will
rejoice when your lips speak right things.
The
following passage reveals to us how Jesus used God's Word to defeat
the devil who tried to tempt Jesus. (Notice here Satan even tried to
get Jesus to commit suicide.) In the same way, we are to use God's
Word appropriately so that we can remain in a state of peace and
happiness.
Matt 4:1-11 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be
tempted by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights,
he was hungry. 3 The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the
Son of God, tell these stones to become bread." 4 Jesus answered, "It
is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word
that comes from the mouth of God.'"
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the
highest point of the temple. 6 "If you are the Son of God," he said,
"throw yourself down. For it is written: "'He will command his
angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so
that you will not strike your foot against a stone.'" 7 Jesus
answered him, "It
is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'"
8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him
all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 "All this I will
give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me." 10 Jesus
said to him, "Away
from me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and
serve him only.'"
11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
